ILLUMINATE COLLECTIVE INVITES YOU TO TAKE A “RIDE FOR LIFE” - BENEFITING THE AIDS/LIFECYCLE 9

A Fundraising Event at AREA in West Hollywood on Tuesday, July 28th

(Los Angeles, California, July 15, 2009) – Illuminate Collective (www.illuminatecollective.com), a full-service creative boutique, is teaming up with AIDS/Lifecycle (www.aidslifecycle.org) to produce the “Ride for Life” red carpet fundraising event benefiting AIDS/Lifecycle 9.  “Ride for Life” will raise awareness for the annual 7-day AIDS/Lifecycle bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles.  A percentage of the proceeds will go to the AIDS/Lifecycle 9, which is co-produced by the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.

AIDS/LifeCycle raises funds to support the HIV/AIDS services that the LA Gay & Lesbian Center provides. Often these services are provided free of charge to persons who would otherwise not have access to HIV health care. These are restricted funds and the money raised by AIDS/LifeCycle participants only supports HIV related services.  The Center provides pharmacy services, mental health counseling, HIV testing, health education and prevention, diagnosis counseling and case management referral, at-risk youth counseling, HIV specific medical care (through the Jeffrey Goodman Special Care Clinic), and addiction counseling.

Special guest Michael Barron, Director of AIDS/Lifecycle, will be in attendance to present information on behalf of AIDS/Lifcycle.  Current and past AIDS/Lifecycle participants will also be available to answer questions, provide information, and offer guests attending the event a special discounted rate to participate in next year’s AIDS/Lifecycle 9, June 6th-12th 2010.

The first 200 guests to arrive the night of the event will be treated to complimentary gift bags with products provided by event sponsors.  Guests will also enjoy an hour long open bar from 9 pm to 10 pm sponsored by Infuzhuns (www.infuzhuns.com) and Miller’s Gin (www.millersgin.com).  Live entertainment will be provided by recording artist Destenee (www.destenee.com) and The Perry Twins (www.perrytwinsmusic.com).  Our proud event sponsors include Crunch Gym (www.crunch.com), Equality California (www.eqca.org), ClubPlanet (www.clubplanet.com), Steve Jordan Acceleration (www.stevejordan.com), 4-rth Sustainable Fashion (www.4-rth.com), and Mizrahi Diamonds (www.mizrahidiamonds.com).

About The AIDS/Lifecycle:

Choosing the Right Event Specialist

June 25th, 2009

Let’s face it; we’ve all attended great events and not so great events. There are those events that you’re glad you produced and or attended and then there are those that leave you wondering why time and money was spent to put the event together in the first place.

I, myself, have attended the latter recently.  Can you image going to an event that had a great concept but when you walk in, the first impression was dirty, dark and dingy even with all the great production, talent and decor.  Not a good first impression right!  Imagine how others attending the event felt?  Do you think that they will attend the next event?  What about the client?  Chances are you’ve lost your client’s faith and damaged their brand and audience base because no matter what anyone says, first impressions count.

Being involved in choosing the right location with your event specialist is very important, so be involved and choose wisely.  Also your event specialist must have the same vision and goals in mind.  If the event specialist doesn’t care enough to ask about your audience or brand, then run the other way.  How can your event be successful if there is no thought put into your audience and demographic needs?

There are many events specialist who claim to be the best and some are truly great but there are many more who don’t care about anything else but financial rewards.  It’s a shame for those who have been victims of greedy, so called, event specialist and planners and thanks to the few true event specialist, the true professionals, who maintain dignity and integrity and care about their clients’ objective and vision.

Fundamental Elements for your next event

June 8th, 2009

There is a standard formula that I along with many event planners and event specialist follow to ensure a memorable, enjoyable and profitable event.  The first step is to have a vision, with your main focus, goals and objective clearly defined.

Once you’ve established your objective and goals, then you will have a better idea of the site and or venue that would best suit your requirements. Promotional materials and your targeted audience will play a big role on the success of your event, so be very strategic on how you plan to reach out to audience.

Budgets are a must, especially if profit is one of your objectives.  This will guide you to set guidelines and ensure measurable results.  Regardless if the event is small or big, always create a budget; you will be amazed on the little details that add up.  A successful event planner/specialist is creative and detailed and so must you!  Write to me if you have any questions, I will be happy to guide you in right direction.

Event Planning: Not as Simple as People Think

June 4th, 2009

As an event specialist in Los Angeles, CA, I receive calls from various acquaintances and friends who want to produce their own events.  They call me with a ton of excitement, thinking that producing an event is easy, but they forget about all the details involved.  In order for the event to be memorable and successful there are fundamental elements that must be observed before you create an event.

When I was an executive of a well-known hotel chain, I dealt with the events department weekly.  I realized then that it was not easy by any means.  Through this experience, I realized my role as a Director for the hotel was not my passion, the event-planning world was!

I learned a lot form this experience and by working with them on events it opened my eyes.  This is what caused me to make the life changing experience to start my own events management and production company.   I want to share my experiences and help those who have the same questions on event planning.  Check out my next blog where I will go over the steps to the fundamental elements for your next event.

Today’s Event Relevance

May 28th, 2009

In this day and age, society is all about instant gratification and limited human interaction.  Facebook and Twitter allows us to follow what our friends and family are doing without actually having to talk to them.  Even cell phones have been reduced to only being used for text messaging because the act of talking to someone is entirely too personal.

But even with today’s outstanding technological advances, there is no substitute for the value of networking and sharing with others, in a personal environment and face-to-face.  It is astounding how something as simple as coming together for a common purpose changes how people feel.  Whether or not they realize it, creating this kind of environment envelops people and influences them consciously and subconsciously.

In conclusion, some of you out there might not be comfortable going to an event. Just remember that each and everyone of us should do something that scares us every day. Just go in with a smile and an open mind.  You will be surprised how many people you will meet with similar beliefs and ideals, not to mention how much it will benefit your business and personal life.
